Ok, it’s not a Hanukkah song. Or it’s not entirely a Hanukkah song.
Jews are inundated, buried, swarmed by Christmas each year – songs, decorations, more songs, decorations that play songs. I know that for some, they can’t stand it because it’s a total enclosure in someone else’s belief and holiday and it can make it seem like its excluding us.
Which, granted, if you can’t appreciate it, it kind of is.
Once I got past the whole “It’s not my holiday and almost everyone I know celebrates it” pouting, I got into Christmas. I love the magical winter transformation and the sparkly lights and the happy music. While some folks (*cough* my mother *cough) can get testy over the teeny, tiny, itty bitty nod Hanukkah gets compared to the overwhelming Santa Hug Christmas gets, I rather like the nods. Especially when they’re kinda funny.
This Dreidel nod is kinda funny.
